RCMP have laid charges against a North Battleford man after he injured an officer when he fled after being pulled over outside Richard Monday morning.

William Rhode, 37, has been charged with nine offences that include assaulting a police officer causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Rhode appeared in Provincial Court in North Battleford this morning and was remanded into custody until his next appearance.

RCMP said a further investigation into the incident found the officer was next to the vehicle attempting to prevent the driver from fleeing, and as the driver drove away, the officer fell and was run over.
