Pinnacle Protection Services: The right protection. The right time.

Mar 4, 2024 | 2:46 PM

With over 44 years of combined protection and investigative experience, the owners of a local security company have proven why their clients can expect the ‘Pinnacle’ advantage.

The team at Pinnacle Protection Services takes time to personally develop each prospective member to prepare them for a multitude of scenarios.

“We look for the best officers that we can,” said co-owner Steve Clark. “We encourage anyone who is interested in an exciting career in security personnel to reach out. If a career in law enforcement interests you, we are a great place to start getting the experience you need.”

The company, which has three locations – North Battleford, Saskatoon and Prince Albert – is actively recruiting members to join their ranks. Trainees will get an extensive education of service detail at stores, malls, apartment buildings and shelters.

It all begins with a standard provincial course before moving on to training in roughly two dozen areas that include the basic criminal code, powers of arrest, de-escalation techniques in the verbal judo style along with suicide prevention, active shooter situations and cultural awareness.

“The 40-hour [provincial] course is just a jumping off point for us. If you’re interested in security but have no experience, we can assist you in completing the Saskatchewan Basic Security Guard Training Course,” said Clark. “Once your training is complete, team members will be given the opportunity to shadow our existing team until they are prepared to join our work roster. We place a high priority on professional appearance and conduct.”

Clark has taken what he has learned from years of working in law enforcement, private investigation, loss prevention, and corrections along with public safety and has adapted it into a company that specializes in high-risk situations.

“With that level of training, officers who join the ranks at Pinnacle often find room for advancement by moving into work with the RCMP, city police and corrections,” said Clark.

“We work on a really good team-based focus where we get our staff together fairly often,” he added, noting they recently did handcuff, baton and defensive tactics training.

“We make a provision for them to be able to continue to practice that with each other on a weekly basis and it creates a real team atmosphere.”

The company also offers a competitive wage. Individuals who have completed the course start at $15.00/hr with the potential of wage increases for high performing individuals.

“As far as direct benefits we offer a full health plan to our staff,” said Clark.

“On top of that, we have bonus schemes for particular sites,” he added referring to extra challenging events like the Saskatoon Exhibition.

“We have to be very, very much on our toes.”

Another factor that sets Pinnacle apart from other companies is that because of their expanded specialties, they receive recommendations from law enforcement.

“We do de-ganging of apartment buildings,” he said.

Clark explained that because of their intensely focused training and their team approach, they are often called into situations that other organizations – including police – can’t solve.

“They can respond to a call for an assault or something like that, but they can’t go in and actually fix the root of the problem and most security companies aren’t equipped to do that because it can often be violent and so we kind of fill that gap.”

Pinnacle Protective Services doesn’t just report suspicious activity; employees will get into the thick of whatever is happening. Services offered include high risk termination, personal protection, covert loss management and strike protection and management just to name a few. As such, recruits are expected to come prepared to train hard, have the willingness to adapt to various situations and possess a professional attitude in everything they do.

“If we see an officer that’s doing a top job and they’re…really dedicated to what they’re doing – their availability, their dependability, their professionalism – they very quickly move up in ranks,” Clark said.
