Two Battlefords North Stars Alumni have been recognized for their performances at the NCAA Division 1 level.

Tynan Ewart and Josh Kotai, who both played on the North Stars 2022/23 championship team, received player of the week honours in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) conference.

Ewart, who currently plays for Northern Michigan University, received the Defenseman of the Week award for his play in two games against the University of Alaska Anchorage this past weekend. He led all CCHA blueliners in points with two, including a goal and an assist. Ewart also held a +2 rating and helped his team split the games against Alaska Anchorage. Overall, throughout the weekend he had three shots on goal with seven blocks and an assist on the first goal in the 2-1 win on Friday, along with getting his first goal of the season on Saturday night.

Kotai, who is the starting goaltender for Augustana University, received the Goaltender of the Week award for his two wins against the 12th ranked University of Omaha. Not only did Kotai win the games, but he also held league-bests in goals-against average (0.50) and save percentage (.985). In total, he stopped 67 shots through the weekend, including all nine that were shorthanded to help his team go 7-for-7 on the penalty kill. On Friday night, he only allowed one goal on 35 shots to lead the team to a 2-1 victory, then on Saturday night he got his second career shutout with a 4-0 win, stopping all 33 shots.
