New Look for Council

Battleford council announced

The town of Battleford has released the unofficial results of its town council election.

The announcement came in the early hours of Tuesday morning, following Monday’s municipal election.

Four of the five incumbents running for re-election will return, as Kevin Russell, Judy Pruden, Shelley Boutin-Gervais and Doug Laing will retain their positions, while fresh faces Alexis Christensen and David George round out the six elected.

Russell led with 483 votes, while Pruden and Boutin-Gervais finished with 479 (Pruden) and 476 (Boutin-Gervais) respectively. Laing tallied just under the 400-vote mark with 387. Christensen received 384, and George finished with 237.

Ken Chartier (224 votes) finished with the final council position, while Mark Coleman (209), Gordon Yarde (192), Richard Zarowny (114) and Cory Schaffer (106), rounded out the candidate field.
