Beading classes chance to make your own Christmas gift
Locals will have a chance to create some of their Christmas gifts in free beading-classes being offered this week.
Jordon Weenie, urban programming for Indigenous peoples coordinator with the Battlefords Indian and Métis Friendship Centre, who is organizing the event, said a local artist will provide free beading lessons to anyone interested in the craft. She will also be sharing some of the history of the art of beading in Indigenous culture.
Weenie said it can take as little as an hour or two for someone to make an attractive pair of decorative beaded-earrings, for example, to take home and put under the tree for a loved one.
“From now until Christmas they have time to whip up some really beautiful creations,” he added.
