A two-hour police operation in Lloydminster ended after a fleeing vehicle rammed an RCMP vehicle and officers used a tactical vehicle contact to stop it.

Lloydminster RCMP said officers responded around 1 a.m. on Aug. 18 to a complaint about a suspected impaired driver and attempted to stop the vehicle on Highway 16 on the east side of the city.

The driver fled and police later deployed a tire-deflation device before using a tactical vehicle contact to stop the vehicle. RCMP said the suspect vehicle rammed a police vehicle during the incident. No one was injured.

Taylor Burke, 25, of Medicine Hat, Alta., was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance, flight from a peace officer, refusal of a lawful demand and assaulting a police officer with a weapon.
