Two North Battleford men are facing charges following a homicide investigation linked to a police response near the Highway 16 Bypass Friday morning.

Kojac Adams, 19, is charged with first-degree murder, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon and pointing a firearm.

Garren Baptiste, 19, faces charges of manslaughter and forcible confinement.

In a release issued Saturday, investigators said that in addition to finding one victim in a parking lot who passed away at the scene, another victim was assaulted, had a gun pointed at them and then was confined to a hotel room.

That victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Adams and Baptiste are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on March 16.

Haris Korath of Crown Cab said the incident allegedly happened after one of his drivers was dispatched for a pickup around 7:30 a.m. Friday.

The driver had been sent to a local motel. Korath told battlefordsNOW that “something happened there with the driver, and he got shot three times, and he passed away.”

RCMP say no further details about the investigation are available at this time.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit continues to investigate with assistance from Battlefords RCMP, the municipal General Investigation Section, the North Battleford Serious Crimes Unit and RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
