Ribbon officially cut for new transit route

Mar 30, 2016 | 6:53 AM

Your 15 minute bus trip one way will no longer take 45 minutes back.

Mayor Ian Hamilton made the new routes for North Battleford official by cutting the ribbon at the Co-op on Tuesday March. 29 in front of the new bus.

The new routes will run the same as the old one but in the opposite direction, meaning the depart trip and the return trip will take the same amount of time. The new routes will also go through the Fairview and Killdeer subdivisions but only at certain times.

The hours will remain the same running from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. There is no service on Sundays and holidays.

The only change in price is adult monthly passes, which will go up $10 to a total of $60. If you buy a pass after the 15th of the month it will be $35. All other prices will stay the same. Bus passes, tickets and cards will be available from City Hall, CUPlex and the Co-op Pharmacy.

The routes will start running Friday April. 1. For a map of the routes and times you can visit www.cityofnb.ca.
