The Battlefords North Stars held their Annual General Meeting Tuesday night at the Gold Eagle Lodge, to discuss the club’s finances and overall standing from the past year.

Coming off a season for the ages that saw the North Stars post their best campaign in franchise history (48-5-2-1; 99 points), the team’s finances reflected the on-ice success, as the organization announced a net profit of $114,929.

North Stars’ president, Kyle Kellgren called it ‘a dream season,’ for the franchise, overall.

“Coming off the best year the Battlefords North Stars have ever had, we’re sitting in the most stable financial position we’ve ever been, in this club,” Kellgren said.

“It’s really exciting going forward,” he continued. “You’re not always going to have the year you just had, you’re going to have struggles, and you may have struggles this year or next year, but it’s just nice that going forward we’ve set ourselves up to succeed for a very long time right now.”

The club’s net revenue increased from a small loss of -$13,733 in 2021-22, to $114,929 this past year, a number more than $59,654 above the budgeted $55,275.

Kellgren said it wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of the fans, the sponsors and overwhelming team support.

“We’ve got the best fanbase in the league, we had the best attendance during the regular season and the best attendance in the playoffs, and the corporate sponsors have been unbelievable,” he said. “They supported us all through the year, and then we had a great playoff run, and the national championship run. It was above and beyond any of my expectations of what people would do for this club and going forward it’s just a very special place to be a part of.”
