CJHD transitions to endless summers as 93.3 BEACH RADIO

May 19, 2023 | 7:41 AM

If you host a beach party, we’ll bring the music. The rock format on 93.3 CJHD FM has been replaced with the new 93.3 Beach Radio which started making waves in the Battlefords area this morning at 6 a.m. The new music format is one of the most popular and successful in North America.

“At its core, Beach Radio is 80s and 90s – featuring those guitar anthems that are infectious and the artists that defined a generation. It’s the songs that are the building blocks of your own personality,” said long-time radio host Nic Fransoo.

The format encompasses the best in what is regarded as the most iconic two decades in pop music history with artists such as Prince, R.E.M., Alanis Morissette, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi and Queen.

“This station is built on the most impactful music of my generation. Beach Radio carries an incredible, upbeat vibe that you can’t help but get swept up in.”

With the rebrand, Fransoo jumps to mornings on Beach Radio while local broadcaster Brad Best will take over the reins as morning show host on Q98.

“I’m lucky enough to still join our listeners in the morning as they start their day, but with a sound that the Battlefords didn’t even know it was missing,” he said. “I’m looking forward to introducing something my community will love, all while continuing to reflect what matters most here at home in the Battlefords.

The ‘Beach’ brand has been a hit in other Pattison Media markets across western Canada including Prince Albert and Melfort according to Battlefords market manager Mike Aimoe.

“While the music is different, some of the rock songs carry over, so listeners get the best of both. This has been our fastest growing radio format and we’re excited to bring the summer vibe of Beach Radio to the Battlefords area all year long,” said Aimoe. Listeners can bring the Beach with them wherever they go by using www.933beachradio.ca for an enhanced experience with great sound quality. To celebrate its launch, the station is also offering great giveaways all summer long.

“We have some amazing ideas in the works, including the opportunity to fuel up our listeners in more ways than one, but you’ll have to listen to find out more,” said Aimoe.

Editor’s note: Beach Radio is part of Pattison Media which also operates battlefordsNOW and meadowlakeNOW.
