The City of North Battleford plans to hold a State of the City Address coming up.

The luncheon event will take place at the Tropical Inn conference room in North Battleford on Wednesday, March 8 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Those wishing to attend will need to purchase a ticket in advance to reserve a seat. Proceeds will benefit the Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre. Tickets can be requested by calling 306-445-9155 or by email at: publicrelations@cityofnb.ca.

The last time the State of the City Address event was held was in March of 2020 with the prior city council.

Mayor David Gillan said this will be the first address from the current council so he is looking forward to the opportunity.

“COVID obviously stopped a lot of public gatherings,” he said. “I think it’s very good we are all getting together again. Hopefully, some people come and listen. I will try to summarize what we have done in the last few years since we had the last one, and where we are going.”

Gillan said he will speak about what the current council has been able to accomplish during their time in office so far, and will give a forward look at what the city is working on for the future as well.

The mayor said the State of the City Address is a good way for the city to connect with its citizens.

“People should be able to come and hear how things are going at the city and be able to ask questions,” Gillan said. “I think it’s good to have a public forum.”
