It was a great day for ice cream.

Thursday served as the 19th annual, Miracle Treat Day at Dairy Queen locations across Saskatchewan.

Involving tasty treats for a good cause, 100 per cent of proceeds from all Blizzard products sold throughout the day at the Battlefords location, will go towards the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Franchisee with the North Battleford Dairy Queen, Terry Burnett said it’s been great to see so many support the initiative in the community again this year, keeping them busy right from the crack of dawn this morning.

“We came in at 5:30 this morning and started making pre-order Blizzards, as we had about 500 pre-order Blizzards to make for numerous businesses who support us every year when we do this,” he said.

Those who entered the local Dairy Queen were greeted by a special setup of balloons and signs to mark the occasion, something Burnett said were put up by staff last night, as part of the celebration that comes with the day, in support of an important cause.

“It’s a huge day for us, and one we all so-much look forward to,” Burnett said. “We’ve all had friends or family or someone we know that’s had to use the Children’s Hospital in Saskatoon, and everything that we raise here stays here in Saskatchewan. Nothing goes out of province, so that just makes us all the more excited to make it a great big day.”
