NDP challenges province over redacted school condition records
The Saskatchewan NDP is accusing the provincial government of withholding information about the condition of the province’s schools after receiving a heavily redacted response to a freedom of information request.
The Opposition said it requested information gathered by the province on the condition of Saskatchewan schools, but the document it received was entirely redacted.
Education critic Matt Love said the NDP had been seeking more detailed information after hearing concerns about aging infrastructure from teachers, families and school boards.
“We know that the government has endeavoured to inspect every school and to produce reports on the state of these schools,” Love said in an interview with paNOW. “And when we asked for that information, we were given 160 blank pages.”
