Three arrested following ramming of Battlefords RCMP vehicle

Battlefords RCMP arrested three suspects following an incident where a stolen car rammed into a police vehicle Tuesday morning.

At around 11:30 a.m. an RCMP member on patrol noticed a car that was reported stolen, behind a business on 101 Street in North Battleford. As the member approached the vehicle, a male came out of the bank and got into the driver’s seat. He rammed the police vehicle to escape after the member parked the police vehicle behind the stolen car.

The occupants fled after the vehicle could not get out and RCMP were able to quickly catch three suspects that were inside. Both vehicles were damaged in the incident, although there were no injuries to any individuals involved. All of the arrested subjects already had numerous warrants.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. RCMP are reminding the public to remove keys and lock their vehicles to protect against theft, given a recent increase in stolen vehicles, most of which have had criminals find the keys inside or nearby.
