Wanted man arrested after search on Sweetgrass First Nation

The Saskatchewan Marshals Service arrested a 33-year-old wanted man Tuesday following a coordinated search on Sweetgrass First Nation.

Marshals attended a residence at about 11:30 a.m. on July 28 after receiving information that the man was inside. An occupant confirmed he was at the home, but the suspect fled through a rear window into a nearby wooded area after becoming aware of police.

Additional resources, including the Provincial Protective Services Canine Unit, Battlefords RCMP, Sweetgrass First Nation Security Officers and a drone, were deployed to assist with the search.

Marshals and the PPS Canine Unit tracked the suspect through the wooded area before locating and arresting him at about 1:14 p.m. after he attempted to evade officers by climbing a tree.
