BMF Peewee Bucks to play in KFL final
Practicing in harsh weather paid off for the Battlefords Minor Football (BMF) peewee Bucks this past weekend.
On Sunday afternoon, they found themselves playing in the Kinsmen Football League semifinals in Saskatoon against the Ledingham Steelers.
The Bucks battled through cold, windy, and at times blistering conditions to defeat the Steelers 24-12 and advance to this weekend’s final.
“The snow wasn’t really snow I guess. It was more like ice pellets. So in your face kind of grind it out business,” peewee Bucks head coach Paul Fransoo said. “The group of coaches that have been doing this, we coach them up hard. We go out and we practice in this kind of weather. We make sure that they understand how different the game can become when it’s cold and you can’t feel your fingers very well. It’s about getting tough before you need to be tough.
