‘It’s unbelievable’: On Air for Healthcare Radiothon surpasses goal with $211k raised for dialysis patients
Every Christmas, Nic Fransoo hangs handmade ornaments his grandfather crafted while receiving dialysis treatment in North Battleford.
The decorations are small reminders of the extra time his family was given together.
On Friday, those memories came full circle as the Battlefords and area community raised $211,093 during the 12-hour 11th annual On Air for Healthcare Radiothon, and far surpasses the $200,000 goal to help upgrade the dialysis unit at Battlefords Union Hospital.
“I feel very, very, very excited, very blessed, I think, for our community because of the fact that this [radiothon] translates into care, not just for those patients that are here today, but for patients going forward,” said Fransoo, host at 93.3 Beach Radio.
