Crusaders senior boys soccer team headed to provincials
It was unusual for the sport of soccer, but the result was the one the John Paul II Crusaders needed.
This past weekend, the Crusaders senior boys soccer team scored eight goals and allowed six in two games at regionals in Martensville, picking up a 3-2 win in the semis and then a 5-4 win in the finals, to catapult them to provincials this coming weekend in Yorkton.
The first place finish at regionals did not come easy, as the Crusaders were trailing in both games and had to claw their way back.
“I think it was so many goals just because we came out flat so we were down right away,” Crusaders head coach Shalen Fox said. “And we had spurts of ‘let’s start playing soccer’ and scored, and then we had spurts of ‘let’s not play soccer’ and they scored on us.
