Big support for Alzheimer’s research in NB

Jan 4, 2017 | 4:00 PM

The community of the Battleford’s will once again be showing its support for those who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in our area.

The annual “Walk for Alzheimer’s” is set for Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Nations West Field House along the Carlton Trial.

“Over the past four years the community has really embraced the event in the Battleford’s. We are averaging 100 to 150 people for the walk every year,” said event co-ordinator Angela Klaassen.

“This disease is personal for many people, because let’s face it, our population is getting older and more and more people are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s or a form of dementia.”

Participants can register online or call the provincial office for a pledge sheet. All money raised stays in Saskatchewan and will go to support and education for those affected by the disease, as well as research to find a cause and a cure.

Registration is at 11 am, with the walk set from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
