Project Poinsettia brings holiday cheer to the Battlefords
Project Poinsettia is spreading Christmas cheer throughout northwest Saskatchewan.
Roughly 500 poinsettias were delivered to patients in hospitals and long-term care facilities in the Battlefords Friday.
Local CUPE vice president Linda Vancuren said the poinsettias cheer up patients and bring a Christmas spirit to the facilities.
“A lot of the patients have family who live far away and don’t come home at Christmas because of different circumstances, and all the workers in there are hands-on workers, most of them are CUPE workers and those residents become their families,” she said. “And when you get a flower it really just makes you feel good.”
