Sask. Crime Stoppers pauses tip lines after data breach

Oct 24, 2026 | 11:21 AM

Anonymous Crime Stoppers tip lines across Saskatchewan have been frozen after a massive data breach hit P3, the specialized software used by the programs across Canada.

The province-wide shutdown takes effect immediately and impacts programs operating out of Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, and provincial Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers, Saskatchewan’s Crime Stoppers programs said in a news release late Friday night.

Organizers jointly decided to pause the services with the support of local policing partners after learning that the stolen database included information that could potentially unmask anonymous tipsters.

“For decades, people across this province have come to Crime Stoppers trusting they could share information with the goal of making our communities safer,” the organizations said in a joint statement.

“This week, new details came to light about a data breach at P3, the tip software used by Crime Stoppers programs across Canada, including ours. That reporting shows the stolen data included information that could potentially identify some people who provided tips.”

The groups are working through legal counsel to get clear answers from Navigate360, the tech company that owns and operates the P3 software system.

“We are still seeking answers from Navigate360 … about the extent of the impact in Saskatchewan, but what we know now is enough for us to act,” the statement read.

While the online and phone tip networks are down, residents are being strongly urged not to try sending tips to any Crime Stoppers program in the province.

Officials emphasize that this safety measure is a temporary pause. Their goal is to resume normal operations and accept anonymous reports as soon as they are fully confident the system is safe to use.

During the software freeze, anyone witnessing a crime in progress or assisting someone in immediate danger should call emergency services. To report a past or non-emergency crime, the public must contact their local municipal police service directly, though authorities note these direct police reports will not be anonymous.

While Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers tip lines are paused, residents can still report non-emergency criminal activity directly to local authorities.

You can reach the Saskatoon Police Service at 306-975-8300, the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500, the Moose Jaw Police Service at 306-694-7600, and the Prince Albert Police Service at 306-953-4222. For those in rural areas or communities policed by the RCMP, please call 311 or your local detachment.

Always call emergency services immediately if a crime is in progress or if someone is in danger.
