Saskatchewan nuclear reactor plans spark push for work experience from industry
For employees working in, or hoping to enter, the nuclear energy sector, gaining nuclear industry experience in Saskatchewan is a top priority for the industry right now.
Saskatchewan Industrial and Mining Suppliers Association (SIMSA) executive director Eric Anderson said that when it comes to nuclear energy, there is no room for error.
“This is the tricky part that people don’t get. If you buy a car, there’s a warranty, there are service departments, there are service bays and all that stuff. In nuclear, there is no warranty; there is no service department. You have to get it right, perfect, the first time.
“So instead of building to 80 per cent quality, you’re building to 100 per cent; it has to be perfect.”
