North Battleford to replace failing City Hall chair lift
North Battleford is replacing a failing City Hall chair lift that has repeatedly left the front desk inaccessible to many people with mobility impairments.
Council approved $50,000 for the replacement at its Sept. 28 meeting.
The existing lift has reached the end of its service life, according to a report from James Johansen, the city’s director of engineering, planning, asset management and infrastructure.
Staff struggle to help members of the public use it, and operating it independently has become almost impossible, the report stated. A full rebuild would be needed to repair it, which administration considers uneconomical.
