Flooding limits access to Finlayson Island trails

Visitors hoping for a stroll on Battleford’s Finlayson Island are instead finding flooded pathways, as rising water has made parts of the popular trail system inaccessible.

“Finlayson Island is an important community hub, offering opportunities for recreation and a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life,” Mayor Ames Leslie said in a statement to battlefordsNOW. “The temporary loss of full access to both sides of the island will affect many residents’ daily routines, enjoyment of nature and opportunities for physical activity for an indefinite period.”
