The City of North Battleford says the North Saskatchewan River is expected to rise significantly beginning June 26 because of heavy rainfall and above-average snowmelt in Alberta.
Water levels in the Battlefords could rise by up to two metres and river flows could nearly triple. The conditions are expected to continue for several days.
As a precaution, the city is closing its boat launch effective June 25 until further notice.
For public safety, the city is asking residents to avoid the river and riverbank area. A Voyent Alert has been issued and will remain in effect until conditions improve.
