Loon Lake RCMP issue more than 60 charges; stolen cards, firearm seized
A large number of IDs and financial cards reported stolen in Alberta were recovered during a traffic stop on Ministikwan (Island Lake First Nation).
During a proactive safety check stop last week, Loon Lake RCMP officers became suspicious when the driver couldn’t produce a license and also provided a fake name. In addition to the stolen credit cards and IDs, officers seized a sawed-off firearm, ammunition and a small amount of crystal methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
A 28-year old man, and a 30-year-old woman, both from Cold Lake, Alta., now face more than 60 charges. Among them are 16 counts each of unauthorized use of credit card information and 10 counts of possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.
The 28-year-old is facing additional charges including one count of obstructing a peace officer, one count of operation while prohibited, and one count of unlicensed possession of a firearm.
