Cram a Cruiser event to benefit Miwasin Kikinaw Shelter

Dec 15, 2023 | 4:00 PM

The Battlefords RCMP is getting ready to do another donation drive and wants the community to come out and “Cram a Cruiser.”

The Miwasin Kikinaw Shelter will be benefiting from local support. This comes after the RCMP held a similar event for the Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre.

“Events like these are a really positive way for our members to interact with the public,” said Jesse Gilbert commander of the Battlefords RCMP detachment.

He explained that this event will offer a chance to reconnect with the community in a positive capacity.

“It’s also a great opportunity to provide for some of the clients at the shelter who are often very vulnerable. They don’t have access to things that many of us take for granted.”

The event will run on Sat., Dec. 16 at InnovationPlex (623 Carlton Trail) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and the Wishlist items include non-perishable food items, toques, snow pants, winter boots for both men and women, scarves, coats, long underwear, toiletries like shampoo and conditioner, brushes, toothbrushes and paste, new socks, underwear, clothing, shoes, and backpacks.

“It helps greatly,” said Pearl Little, Acting Director of Miwasin Kikinaw Shelter. “We are always so short of all these products that they’re going to be doing this drive for and we appreciate it so much.”
