AAA Stars lose key games to Maulers
There are now just five games left in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League regular season, and after the AAA Stars losses this weekend, things are not looking good.
The Stars fell 3-1 on both Saturday and Sunday at home to the Yorkton Maulers, a team they are trying to catch in the standings. Coming into the weekend, the Maulers were just two points up. Now, they are six points up, which has them comofrtably in sixth in the league.
But Battlefords remains in 11th place, with a 14-23-0-2 record. That puts them three points back of the 8th place Saskatoon Blazers, who have seven games remaining, two more than the Stars.
“The weekend wasn’t very productive,” AAA Stars new head coach Norm Johnston said after the game. “We did some things right, but not enough.
