North Battleford council honours RCMP Insp. Gilbert
North Battleford city council recognized Commander Inspector Jesse Gilbert of the Battlefords RCMP at Monday’s meeting after he was recently honoured with the Member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces award from the Governor General of Canada.
Council presented Gilbert with a gift to show their appreciation for his service.
“Congratulations [to Insp. Gilbert] on his award that was given to him in Ottawa by the Governor General,” Mayor David Gillan said. “We’re just very fortunate to have such a high calibre person running our RCMP detachment. We’re very lucky as citizens to have him here, and we hope that he stays here for a long time.”
Gilbert has been serving with the RCMP in Canada for a total of 19 years. He has been in the Battlefords since late 2022, after previously serving in Alberta, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon.
