Battlefords’ Colby Cave set to join the Oilers

Jan 15, 2019 | 11:12 AM

It’s somewhat of a homecoming for a local hockey product.

Colby Cave, who is originally from Battleford, was acquired on waivers late this morning by the Edmonton Oilers from the Boston Bruins.

This year, the 24-year-old centerman has played in 20 games, scoring a goal and registering five points. His first NHL goal came on De. 17 in Montreal against the Canadiens.

The Oilers tweeted the claim at 11:07 a.m.

It’s not known whether Cave will start with the Oilers, or be sent down to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors.

The undrafted Cave has 43 goals and 115 points in 239 career AHL games, all amassed with the Providence Bruins.
