New grain terminal coming to Maymont
Ground has broken on a new grain terminal in the northwest.
GrainsConnect Canada is building its first of four modern high-throughout grain terminals in Maymont, approximately 47 km southeast of the Battlefords.
President of GrainsConnect Canada Warren Stow said the site will have 35,000 tonnes of storage and have a 130 grain hopper car train loop, which will allow the site to load a full train in fewer than 10 hours. The site is being built on CN’s Prairie North Rail Line between Winnipeg and Edmonton.
GrainsConnect Canada is an equal joint venture between GrainCorp of Australia and Zen-Noh of Japan. Stow said the new Maymont terminal allows them access to the resources in the area.
