Family asking public to join in search for missing woman Ashley Morin

Dec 1, 2018 | 8:27 AM

The family of missing North Battleford woman Ashley Morin are planning a community search today (Saturday) and are asking for the public’s help.

They are requesting people meet at the parking lot beside Tim Hortons, off Territorial Drive at the north end of North Battleford, at 10 a.m., where they will announce the location for the search at that time.

Morin’s uncle Randy Bird said the family will decide on the search location depending on weather conditions in the morning, so they can better gauge how far they will be able to travel.

Bird said the family are not giving up hope in the search for Ashley.

“We’ve been doing it as often as we could on weekends and in evenings, whenever we receive any kind of tip, so we as a family are not going to stop until something comes about,” he said.

Bird added all of the family’s searches are always open to anyone wanting to help. He particularly thanked a group from Saskatoon that have been coming to the local area to also take part in the family’s searches for Morin.

They will once again be participating in this search, Bird said, adding they came and helped several times already, which has been “absolutely amazing.”

“It’s a wonderful group of young people who are willing to help,” he said. “That’s been a godsend for us. The local people are welcome as well.”

Bird said it will be a painful Christmas for the family with still no word of Ashley’s whereabouts.

“It’s going to be a hard holiday season to get through,” he said. “She is still missing, and we haven’t heard anything positive. The mother is still struggling to keep as strong as she can, but she is still a mother and that’s still her baby girl.”

Bird added it will be a difficult time for the family to manage through the holidays “without some tears.”

The RCMP previously reported the 31-year-old woman has been missing since July 10. Her disappearance was considered suspicious, and the RCMP’s Major Crime Unit North has been assisting in the investigation.

If anyone has any information regarding Ashley Morin’s whereabouts they are asked to contact the Battlefords RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
