Gun Show on this weekend in North Battleford

Sep 28, 2018 | 12:00 PM

The Gun Show is back in North Battleford this weekend, and it has something for everyone in their 23rd year.

There will be antiques, farm toys, raffles, collectables, and of course, guns and gun accessories throughout the show. It kicks off tomorrow at the Agriplex building at Exhibition Park, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and then again on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Gib Volk, organizer for the event, told battlefordsNOW that they sell out quick, and that the feedback is great every year.

“We’ve got people coming all the way from Kenora, Ontario, and B.C. to rent tables,” he said. “The people that have come back have been coming back for years and years. It’s a very popular show, we sell out in mid-May, and we probably have 30 to 40 tables on standby. It’s an extremely popular show.”

There are 200 tables at the show, and before they changed up the format 13 years ago, the first 10 years consisted of just a toy and antique show.

Pat Folan, organizer for the event, told battlefordsNOW there are giveaways throughout the event that everyone should come down and check out.

“There’s something there for everybody, even the kids,” he said. “We have a raffle, that’s free. Any kid from 14 down gets a chance at an air rifle. We also have a shot gun and a rifle and a small pedal tractor that’s raffled off for money.”

All of, up to $10,000 of the money raised for the event will be going to the Battlefords Union Hospital throughout the weekend event.
