Mar 31, 2017 | 2:06 PM

A man accused of murdering his estranged wife appeared in a North Battleford courtroom this morning, March 31.

Wesley John Veit is accused of first-degree murder in the death of Heidi Veit, who according to Leslie Kronschinski, reeve of the R.M. of Buffalo, is the estranged wife of the accused.

Kroschinski said he has known Wesley nearly his whole life, employed him in the R.M. for a while, and described him as a good man.

“He tried to work his hardest, stayed long hours, worked hard at it. Never had no inkling of this ever happening,” he said.

He said there are mixed feelings right now in the R.M. of Buffalo where Wesley was from and where the alleged murder took place.

Police have not disclosed any information on the cause of death or the events leading up to Heidi’s death. Heidi worked at Living Sky School Division as an educational assistant.

During the court session this morning a second appearance was scheduled for Tuesday, April 4 at 11 a.m., where Wesley will appear by video.

He has been remanded into custody.

Allegations against Wesley have not been proven in court.
