N.B. water tower to be repaired

Dec 8, 2016 | 11:00 AM

North Battleford’s water tower could be getting some much needed repairs in 2017, according to the draft budget.

Proposed repairs totalling $300,000 include structural repairs to the water bowl, fill tube and legs of the tower. The document also notes the tower needs cathodic protection to prevent corrosion. The technique was removed at some point with no documented reason, according to budget documents.

According to the budget, repairs will ensure the tower is structurally sound and the water inside is safe, and will be much cheaper than eventually having to demolish the tower and build a new one.

The repairs were identified in an in-depth 2016 study of the water tower.
