A stormy long weekend came to an end Sunday with strong winds and large hail in western Saskatchewan.

Wind gusts of 94 km/h were reported at North Battleford Airport, along with 12 mm of rain the evening of Sunday, July 3. Meadow Lake only reported a trace of rain Sunday.

A more powerful storm cell associated with the system passed through the Kindersley area. Dan Fulton, meteorologist with Environment Canada, said baseball-sized hail was reported, and wind gusts up to 110 km/h also hit the area.

There were tornado warnings on Canada Day after funnel clouds were reported in the Biggar area, including one which allegedly touched down. There were no reports of damage.
