The value of residential alteration and repair permits more than doubled from $421,000, despite the city issuing two fewer than in the corresponding quarter of 2025. Last year’s residential total also included two new dwellings, two basement suites and five garages.

Industrial permits helped offset some of the decline in other categories. Two permits carried a combined value of $1.94 million, up from $797,500 across three permits a year earlier.

An industrial alteration valued at $1.59 million accounted for most of this year’s total. The remaining $351,000 came from a new industrial permit.

Commercial permit values were largely unchanged, with six permits worth $2.34 million compared with seven valued at $2.39 million a year earlier.

No institutional permits were issued during the latest quarter, while the same period in 2025 included one institutional alteration and repair permit valued at $2.1 million.

The city also issued six sign permits and six demolition or removal permits worth a combined $404,400. A year earlier, four such permits carried a total value of $54,000.

Through the end of June, North Battleford had issued 47 building permits worth $16.69 million. That included 20 permits worth $10.08 million in the first quarter, when 10 commercial alteration permits accounted for approximately $9.85 million.

Separate planning figures show the city made 21 development decisions during the second quarter, with none denied. Approvals included a multiple-unit dwelling at 1102 98th St., two restaurant developments along 15th Avenue, a health-care clinic at 1101 101st St. and a retail addition and garden centre on Railway Avenue East.

Looking ahead, the department plans to extend utilities along Buhler Avenue for an 80-unit apartment building and complete drainage improvements and paving in Parsons Industrial Park.
