Battlefords soccer fans set for World Cup watch party
The Battlefords will be part of Canada’s World Cup excitement this weekend, as fans gather to take in a historic knockout match together.
Battlefords Youth Soccer Inc., Battleford United FC and the City of North Battleford are hosting a watch party Sunday, June 28, at the Don Ross Community Centre as Canada takes on South Africa in the Round of 32. Doors open at 12:30 p.m., with kickoff at 1 p.m.
The director of Battlefords Youth Soccer Inc. said the goal is to bring players, families and fans together to share in the excitement of Canada’s big moment on the world stage.
“We’re looking to gather everyone together for the love of the game and hopefully watch Canada make it through the Round of 32 and into the Round of 16 for the first time ever,” Kat Huxley said.
