Fire Safety Order shuts down North Battleford motel

Community members in North Battleford are questioning the recent board up of the Hitching Post Motel after the fatal shooting of a cab driver on the property earlier this month. 

The city has confirmed that the property has been closed under a Fire Safety Order for the next 60 days by the North Battleford Fire Department, effective March 19. 

This 60-day period will allow the property owner time to address the issues of the closure. It will remain closed until successfully passing an inspection by Fire Department officials. An inspection may occur before the period has finished, at the property owner’s request, if steps have been taken to fix the issues. 

BattlefordsNOW attempted to contact the property owner for further comment but did not received a response.
