REGULAR SEASON WINDING DOWN

North Stars head to Kindersley with a chance to end the Klippers season

Mar 12, 2026 | 12:26 PM

The Battlefords North Stars have made it to their final two games of the season; a home-and-home set with their division rival Kindersley Klippers that comes with an opportunity to eliminate Kindersley from playoff contention.

The Klippers are currently two points behind the Estevan Bruins for the eighth and final playoff spot in the SJHL, but the Bruins hold the tiebreaker. This means the Klippers need at least three of the possible four points in the last two games, and the Bruins would need to lose their last two remaining games for Kindersley to make the playoffs.

So, a North Stars regulation win would eliminate the Klippers from playoff contention. If that happens, it would be the second time in a row that the North Stars knocked the Klippers out of contention in their own building.

This game also means a lot to the North Stars when it comes to playoff seeding. A win, whether it be in regulation or overtime, would ensure that the North Stars would finish in fourth place in the SJHL at the very lowest, which would give them home ice advantage in the playoffs no matter who they play.

The North Stars could still finish in second place in the SJHL, if they claim more points than the Yorkton Terriers do in the teams’ respective final two games. However, the Terriers hold the tiebreak over the North Stars and would clinch second place if they tie in points.

Last time the North Stars visited Kindersley, they had a comeback win to clinch the playoffs as well as the Nutrien Division championship.

The North Stars have a 5-1-0-0 record against the Klippers this season. After losing the home opener to the Klippers, the North Stars have won five straight against Kindersley to date.

In head-to-head contests against the Klippers, the North Stars have four players tied for the team lead in points with five each: Anthony Campbell (4GP-3G-2A), Carter Geysen (6GP-3G-2A), Linken Fisher (6GP-1G-4A), and Gavin Granger (4GP-1G-4A).

On the other hand, the Klippers have three players with five points each against the North Stars: Kaegan Lowe (4G-1A), Ethan Sautner (2G-3A) and Rylan Wieler (1G-4A), all in six games each.

The Klippers have won two straight games, looking for their third consecutive to keep their playoff hopes alive. After a pair of losses to the Flin Flon Bombers last weekend, the North Stars look to avoid their third straight loss on the way to potentially knocking their division rival out of playoff contention.

The Ultra Print pregame show begins at 7:00 pm, while the puck drops for Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey at 7:30 on CJNB/CJNS.
