North Stars fail to sweep triple header, fall 5-2 to the Weyburn Red Wings
In the second game of a weekend series, the Weyburn Red Wings (17-7-1-1, 1st in Bunge Division) took the 5-2 win over the Battlefords North Stars (14-7-2-2, 2nd in Nutrien Division).
The Red Wings came out quick in the first period, getting a power play goal early from Luke Dekay who was able to put it in from below the goal line off North Stars goaltender Steele Bass. The Red Wings overall outplayed the North Stars in the first frame and went into the second period up 1-0.
Less than five minutes into the second period at four-on-four, Kaleb Dewar walked into the zone on the left side and sniped one blocker side on Red Wings goalie Nate Stevens to tie the game up at one.
A few minutes later, Dewar doubled down on the power play going five hole on Stevens to make it a 2-1 North Stars lead.
