North Stars survive Estevan Bruins third period surge, win 5-3 at home
In their second straight win, the Battlefords North Stars (13-6-2-2, 2nd in Nutrien Division) got goals from five different players and won 5-3 over the Estevan Bruins (14-8-2-1, 2nd in Bunge Division). Not only did the North Stars have five different goalscorers, but they got a goal from all four lines which North Stars assistant coach Owen Lamb was excited about.
“That’s what we’re looking for. We want four solid lines, we want to try and make a wave. We want every line to go out there, generate, create and that’s what we had tonight,” said Lamb.
In the first period, the North Stars got a powerplay opportunity when Nathaniel Harvey went to the box for cross checking. Kobe Sawyer took a pass in the slot from Raiden Zacharias and put it through the five-hole of Bruins goaltender and former North Star, Dylan Adams.
Early in the second period, Zacharias picked up a rebound on the edge of the crease and slid it in for his second goal of the season to give the North Stars a 2-0 lead. Not long after, Bruins forward Nathaniel Harvey walked in and sniped one short side on Steele Bass to cut the deficit to 2-1.
