Smoke expected near Wearing Road as city carries out controlled burn

Don’t be alarmed if you see smoke rising from North Battleford’s landfill this week — the City says a controlled burn is underway at the Waste Management Facility.
City staff began burning clean wood and tree piles at the landfill Tuesday morning, and the process is expected to continue for a few days.
Crews are overseeing the burn on-site to ensure it remains controlled. The city says residents may notice smoke coming from the landfill off Wearing Road but stresses there is no cause for concern.
The work is being carried out with proper notification and permits from the North Battleford Fire Department.
