Bass stops 42 shots, North Stars take down Kindersley Klippers 4-3 in the shootout

Nov 10, 2025 | 10:42 PM

An exciting game at the Access Communications Centre ended in a 4-3 shootout win for the Battlefords North Stars (8-5-2-2, 3rd in Nutrien Division) over the Kindersley Klippers (10-3-2-5, 1st in Nutrien Division).

The North Stars saw some adversity early when Sebastian Miles was given a five-minute-major and a game misconduct for a major checking from behind penalty. The North Stars were able to kill off the entire five-minute penalty without letting in a single goal.

Not long after the kill, Raiden Zacharias netted his first goal of the season to put the North Stars up 1-0. With just over 30 seconds left in the period, Van Eger took the puck off goalie Steele Bass behind the net before bringing it in front and scoring to tie the game up at one.

The North Stars took a 2-1 lead into the second period after Carter Geysen scored on a scramble in front with one second left in the period.

No goals were scored in the second period, and Bass made some unbelievable saves in the second to keep it a 2-1 game.

In the third period, Austin Osiowy scored less than a minute into the frame to tie things up at 2. Almost halfway through the period, Finlay Klippenstein took a pass from Zacharias before scoring a wraparound. Klippenstein’s goal in his second straight game gave the North Stars a 3-2 lead.

The Klippers tied it up with under five minutes to go in the third when affiliated player Tyler Hudec took a pass from Avery Johnson on a three-on-two and fired it past Bass to make it a 3-3 game. The contest went to overtime and eventually had a shootout.

The North Stars, who hadn’t scored in the shootout this season coming into this game, went three for three in the shootout courtesy of Kobe Sawyer, Linken Fisher and Gavin Granger. Granger’s goal was the game winner to give the North Stars a 4-3 shootout win in a Nutrien Division matchup over the Klippers. Granger, Bass, and Zacharias were awarded the three starts of the game. With the win, the North Stars improved to 5-0 when scoring two or more goals in the first period.

The North Stars next play on Nov. 15 when they head to Nipawin to face the Hawks. The Ultra Print Services pregame show begins at 6:30 pm Saskatchewan time, while Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey starts at 7:00 on CJNB/CJNS.
