Battlefords area continues to support those in need as winter comes
Battlefords community centers are preparing to help those in need by keeping them warm over the coming winter season.
The Share the Warmth Project, also known as Coats for Kids, has supplied those in need with winter clothing for over 20 years. Over the span of last winter, more than 500 pieces of outerwear were distributed, not including mitts and toques.
Erin Katerynych, executive director at Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre, said the charity wants to make sure that nobody outdoors is cold this winter.
“When the food bank is open in the mornings, that’s when we would distribute winter jackets and stuff through that. Whereas when it comes to kids, we like to work with the schools,” she said.
