John Paul II Soccer teams heading to provincials this weekend
The Saskatchewan high school soccer provincials are being held on Oct. 24-25, and both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams from John Paul II will be competing in the tournament. The boys’ team will be heading down to Regina, while the girls will play in Yorkton.
Both teams made the finals in their respective regional playoffs, but both fell in the final round. However, it was enough to qualify for the provincial championship.
In regionals, the boys’ team played against the Humboldt Hurricanes in the 4A region A semifinal matchup. They won that match 3-1 to advance to the finals against Chief John Keenatch. Unfortunately for the Crusaders, they fell 5-1 in the finals but still qualified for provincials. They will play against Regina Huda in the provincial semifinals at the University of Regina.
Regina Huda went 3-0 in their 4A region B tournament, taking down Regina Christian School, MJ Central, and Yorkton Sacred Heart on the way to the victory.
