Natural Gas flaring being done in Meota

Sep 24, 2024 | 11:13 AM

SaskEnergy is informing the public that they will be doing natural gas flaring from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25 at the TransGas Meter Station in the RM of Meota, east of Highway 4, approximately six kilometres east of the Village of Prince.

Residents should be aware that a 40-foot flame will be seen coming from the flare stack temporarily attached to SaskEnergy’s infrastructure.

This is necessary maintenance work for the natural gas line system and is done to ensure safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to SaskEnergy’s customers. The process works by isolating a portion of the gas line from the system so a controlled burn called a flare can be performed on the line. Flaring is a common industry practice that is done when gas needs to be removed from a line.

Natural gas services in the area will not be affected and the area where the flaring is taking place will be supervised. The RM of Meota local fire department have been notified of this event.
