REPLACEMENT PLAN

Government plans to advance Battleford District Care Centre to meet modern standards

Sep 9, 2024 | 12:23 PM

The Battleford District Care Centre (BDCC) project will replace the original centre by developing a business case, as the Government of Saskatchewan has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to engage a consultant team.

Proposals should include the project’s specifics, timelines, and responsibilities.

According to a release, the allocation of $250,000 in the 2024-25 provincial budget is intended to support the advancement of BDCC planning as part of the Government of Saskatchewan’s extensive $4.4 billion capital plan.

The consultant team will provide professional project management and advisory services to create a comprehensive business case for the new facility.

BDCC currently provides long-term care services to the Battlefords and surrounding areas. However, it does not meet modern care standards, and a business case is needed to validate potential replacement options.

The business case will undertake site assessments, develop capital options, provide a Class-D cost estimate, and perform a high-level risk and project phasing analysis.

“This facility will provide specialized care to those requiring ongoing assistance, promote exceptional quality of life for residents, and support families in need of long-term care solutions,” SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister Terry Jenson said in a release.

The business case phase prepares the project team for the pre-design and design of the new facility.
