Jul 21, 2024 | 10:33 AM

In anticipation of this fall’s municipal election, the City of Battleford has launched a new website to keep residents better informed.

The website will continue to be updated with relevant information for candidates and voters as it becomes available.

Among the details you can expect to find are polling times, voter eligibility and job opportunities.

Two bylaws – the Campaign Disclosure Spending Limits Bylaw, and the Candidate Criminal Record Check Bylaw – were recently passed by council and this year, “The maximum campaign expense amount for Mayoral candidates is $10,455.00 and for City Council candidates, the maximum campaign expense amount is $5,227.50.”

Additionally, expenses earmarked for the campaign “may only be incurred during the campaign expense period” and contributions over $250 to campaigns must be disclosed no later than February.

Meanwhile, for people interested in learning about the role of the city council there will be a forum at a future date and everyone – especially those interested in running.

The upcoming election days are as follows: September. 25 – October. 9 (Nomination Day), advance poll dates: Sat., Nov. 2 from noon to 6 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 7 from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sat., Nov. 9 from noon to 6 p.m. and election day will run Weds., Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
