Live at Lunch concert series to return to N.B. this summer

The North Battleford Downtown BID (Business Improvement District) has announced the return of their Live at Lunch summer concert series starting July 10.

Showcasing local artists from around the Battlefords and area, the Live at Lunch series has traditionally been held every other Wednesday through July and August and takes place from 12-1 p.m. at Library Park.

Executive Director with the North Battleford BID, Kori Humenny said it’s been great to see the overwhelmingly positive response from the community since they’ve announced the return of the concert series for this summer.

“I’ve noticed a lot of people liking it and sharing it, so there’s definitely a lot of excitement around it,” she said. “I expect it to be even bigger and better than last year, just because there’s that excitement about it coming back and people know what to expect, so I’m just hoping the word of mouth can get other businesses to get their staff out to come and listen to some live music.”

She said while they’re waiting till a bit closer to the date to announce the artists performing, the summer slate is expected to kick off with two new performers who will make their Live at Lunch debut, as well as a band performance and solo act who will return for some of the yet-to-be-announced dates to come in August.

The local business that sponsors each event will determine the non-profit where 100 per cent of proceeds will be donated. Lunch is also being served.

“Whether it’s a barbecue or taco in a bag, it’s going to depend on who’s hosting that portion of it, but there will be an opportunity for people to come and buy their lunch and enjoy some live music in the park,” Humenny said.

The concert series is one of the big events held by the North Battleford Downtown Business Improvement District, a group formed back in 2013, to bolster economic growth and bring the community together in the downtown area.
